Sanborn Fire Insurance Map & Publishing Company produced a detailed map of West Chester as it appeared in March 1886. The highly detailed illustration catalogued each area of the city, highlighting civic landmarks such as the City Courthouse, the original Turk’s Head Hotel, and the Baptist Meeting House. Also included are prominent industrial and commercial establishments such as the West Chester Wheel Factory and the Broomall Stott & Co. Machine Shop. The map is one in a series of four detailed surveys of the city.
